Special Olympics Cyprus Open 2023

The CGF's anual Charity event, where all proceeds are in aid of Special Olympics Cyprus, was completed yestrday, Sunday, 11 June 2023, hosted by Minthis golf course.

The event was attended by 46 players, all members of the CGF, which we sincerely thank for their support.

From the 12 teams entered, "Pros from Dover" team, comprising of Achilleas Skoutarides, Elizaveta Marnitsyna, Luka Marnitsyn and Costas Skoutarides were the eventual winners with 100 points. Runners Up with 91 points were the "Wave" team comprising of Sergei Lobov, Dimitrii Barentcev, Olga Barentceva and Olga Lobova.

Worthy of note is the fact that the three juniors of the "Pros from Dover" team, Achilleas Skoutarides, Elizaveta Marnitsyna, and Luka Marnitsyn are all products of the CGF's Junior Golf training program. Nearest To the Pin on hole #2 was Minthis member Roger Birket, and on hole #13 Dhekelia member Phil Piercy. Each player receives a €30 Minthis Pro shop voucher, sponsor by Abbeygate Insurances.

On the day, a number of special athletes from the Paphos and LImassol areas, were also present and competed along with their coaches, volunteers and sponsors in skills from the Special Olympics Golf Sports Rules. 

Special Olympics Cyprus provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual
disabilities (Individuals with special needs).
